I really don’t know what to say about this one, except I like it!
It really came out beautifully. That’s also the reason for the title, well, one of them…

It was inspired by another source I found on the Net…amazing what’s out there these days…
The final version had 103 layers and is a bit under 200 megs
Mostly this is the result of the large amount of skin…

It took a bit under 4 days to paint, well actually, four sessions of about 2-3 hours each, so really not that bad.

PS: For everybody interested: Somebody wanted a button…I didn’t quite get to make one, but instead there is also a, ahem, widescreen version available…If you want it, send me an email…(love my ISP! *giggles*)

Being Hip

Back to the roots on this one…Actually, I wanted to do something fast, but as it turned out it took longer than expected.
The hand was quite a challenge, but the final result was worth it, I think. All in all it took 5 hous, split over two days. It was inspired by a picture I saw on sony.com.

Senses

Senses, what a simple title… And yet there was quite a bit of work that went into it.

Inspired by a pic I found on the net one day, this piece took me a while to finish…about 15 hours total. But that is still quite a bit faster than previous paintings…
It breaks down into 2 hours composition, blocking and background, 4 hours for the body and dress, 6 hours for the face and another 3 for the hair and finishing touches.
The picture amassed a whopping 173 layers in the end.

This week also marks the date when pixelish.com was added to the link rotation at ultramusique.com, an amazing website for all your musical entertainment in Omaha and beyond.

To celebrate this, and as a little form of appreciation, I also released the ‘ultramusique.com special edition’ of Senses.

Dreaming about Summer

Dreaming about summer was inspired by two things. The first was a movie I saw a while back. I don’t recall what it was but it gave me the idea for this piece.

The second was a look outside my window a few days back. It was cold, my car’s windshield was iced over and I realized that once again I’m facing a Nebraska winter…

Find a happy place…
I guess this would qualify It is without a photo reference, so it took a little while (which is about 2 days, including composition research). Final image data: 84 layers, about 210 megs.

Point of View

A quick draw. Really, a quicky, if you will… It was inspired by a pic by Gisele Buendchen, found on hebus.com.

The painting took about 90 minutes from start to finish. I also wanted to see if I can do it in PS, instead of Painter.
Not much mroe to say about it. I like the coloring. It came out pretty good. As always, all criticism welcome…

Underworld

Okay, so here it goes…

Even before seeing the movie Underworld I was quite fascinated with the teaser trailer running in the movie theaters.
I decided that this is a nice opportunity to paint my first free-style painting. I wanted to use my imagination, not a source.

I didn’t know how tough it was going to be…

Two weeks and a few sleepless nights later it was finally done.
The result can be seen here. I learned a host of new techniques while doing this. The final picture has a resolution of 3200 x 2400 pixels, had more than 150 separate layers and is about 92 megabytes!!!
But it was well worth it. The only thing I used for this painting is a silhouette for her torso. Everything else, texturing, arms, legs, head, background and props are all free-hand painted and designed.
